Are you experienced in the creation and implementation of efficient tax planning strategies for high net worth individuals and tax consequences associated with foreign trusts, estates and investment vehicles? 

This is a unique opportunity to lead a 12-person tax department within a highly-regarded global trust company/family office in Boston.

The  Manager  of  Tax  is  responsible  for  the  overall  successful  operation  of  an  evolving  team  of  professionals. Focused on  providing tax planning  and  preparing services  to  a client  base consisting of affluent, sophisticated trust and individual high-net worth clients, the Manager of Tax will evaluate and provide recommendations on improvements  to  the  current  vision,  strategic  direction,  and  technical  needs  and  solutions  within  the  Tax
Department  and  will  strive  to  implement  best  practices  processes.    This  high-profile  position  will  provide leadership, management, training and development to all department members.
This  position  routinely  handles  confidential  information,  while  maintaining  a  high  level  of  client  service. Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information are absolutely essential.

   Lead, motivate, and challenge staff comprised of tax professionals possessing a wide-range of skill level, experience and professional achievement.
   Organize, coordinate and assign work assignments and projects ensuring quality service is provided to the
Trustees and their clients.
   Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and level of client relations/service.
   Develop working relationships and interact regularly with Trustees in an advisory capacity with existing and potential clients to assist with complex tax planning concepts and solutions.
   Attend and speak at Executive Committee and Trustee meetings regarding tax issues as needed.
   Assume responsibility for monitoring and controlling area activities, establishing work standards and making recommendations regarding performance appraisal, salary adjustments, training and development and related
personnel actions.
   Partner with Human Resources on recruiting efforts to select, onboard, train and develop talent.
   Partner with Client Services and Fiduciary Risk Management Committees to strengthen fiduciary knowledge across multiple departments.
   Keep abreast of major tax law changes, taking a proactive approach.
   Network with outside tax and legal professionals regarding client and office matters as needed.
   Maintain knowledge of and aptitude for technical systems, essential to ensuring efficient delivery of a wide range of high quality tax related services.
   Negotiate vendor contracts, rates and services; liaise with all vendor relationships.
   Participate as a member of the Management Team.  Engage in joint problem solving activities and inter- department projects, often times in areas not directly affecting the Tax Department.
   Support Compliance on all necessary and appropriate requirements of the SEC, SSAE16, and New Hampshire
Bank Audit.
   Partner with Finance on developing and managing department budget.
   Negotiate vendor contracts, rates and services; Liaise with all vendor relationships.
   Accept high-profile account assignments as needed.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
   LL.M. degree strongly preferred.
   Experience in trust and individual taxation with a family office or fiduciary services provider.
   Experience in the creation and implementation of efficient tax planning strategies for high net worth individuals.
   Experience in tax consequences associated with foreign trusts, estates and investment vehicles.

   Experience in the application of income/estate/gift tax treaties and the tax implications of cross-border financial transactions.
   Master technical skills including MS Office, with an aptitude for learning other industry-related applications and databases as needed such as ProFx, OneSource, AddVantage, etc.
   Outstanding organizational skills, combined with persistence and good problem-solving skills.
   Strong interpersonal and oral skills with the ability to interact at all levels effectively.
   Exercise judgment and use tact and discretion when handling complex and confidential matters, even in high stress situations.
   Manage multiple demands within a small team, and respond to changing priorities as needed.
