Our client, a prestigious and highly-regarded global hedge fund based in Boston with close to $30 billion in AUM is searching for a Manager of Portfolio Accounting. 
 
Candidates should possess the following characteristics and qualifications:

        Undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in accounting or finance with a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience
        Proven successful management experience required
        Experience with complex portfolios holding diverse private assets required; experience with real estate investments is a plus
        CPA/MBA preferred, but not required
        Strong critical thinking and problem solving ability
        Commitment to excellence and pride in work product
        Ability to perform technical research and writing and to implement those ideas into actionable processes that are both scalable and repeatable
        Strong computer skills, particularly Excel; familiarity with programming languages or ability to create macros is a plus
        Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with personnel throughout every level of the company
        Desire to work in the details while also having the ability to understand a more macro perspective
        Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments effectively
       
This position will be a member of the 7-person Portfolio Accounting team which is responsible for investment accounting, NAV calculations, and partner income allocations for eleven partnerships.  The specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
     Management of two or three Portfolio Accountants
     Understand both the U.S. tax and GAAP treatments of accounting entries
     Oversee private investment accounting, financial statements prepared on Luxembourg GAAP
     basis, and portions of the public fixed income portfolio
     Review monthly partnership net asset values and returns
     Research and review GAAP accounting pronouncements
     Oversee the audit process and preparation of annual GAAP financial statements
     Design scalable, repeatable, and adaptable processes through personal automation or spreadsheets and/or by collaborating with IT teams on broader applications
     Act as a liaison to the other operational teams
     Perform and delegate other special projects as requested
